The Best Man Might Not Win

I have been watching the videos of the Obama and McCain speeches, my instincts combined with judgment tells me that Sen. McCain is the better choice.

Sen. Obama reminds me of the liberal New York City politicians of forty years ago. They also were advocates for change. It was true that they helped the poor but it was at the expense of the middle class that were driven out of the city. I believe Obama is from the same mindset.

Sen. McCain is more realistic. He speaks about free and fair trade, not about a return to a non-productive manufacturing past. His faith in the American worker to compete in the new world order convinces me that he can help our country. He is for change but not at the expense of people who pay enough taxes.

The vast majority of voters blame the government for most of their problems. They want a government that will give them free health care and affordable housing. Many believe the wealthy should pay for those needs by higher taxation. That is why they will vote for the candidate that promises big changes in the way our government treats its people.

We all believe in change--everyone has a problem. Some believe our government is not giving us enough benefits and they need more help. Others believe the government is big enough and should only help people to help themselves.

The only thing that will change if a liberal candidate becomes our next president is that internal special interests will become more powerful. They will try to make us believe that an isolated America is better for us. McCain is more realistic and his changes will make America a more powerful player in international economics. But who ever wins we are sure to get changes.

Gamblers in Ireland are making Obama the two to one favorite to win the presidential election. I believe that Sen. Obama will become our next president. Voters want a change from present day politics and they think Obama will give them that change.
